More News/Pictures

Below is a picture of what the Game Jolt link will look like.  It’s essentially a modified version of the YYG link.  Already, one game is ready and more are soon to follow.  In response to a question I just got, games will either be associated with Game Jolt or YYG and possibly other sites in the future.

Game Jolt on B Arcade

Yet another image lies below: this one is of the logo of Tortoise Media.

Tortoise Media

Tortoise Media, as its name implies, will publish a variety of content; games are only the beginning!  Already, Sam Albertson has been announced as head of Tortoise Media.  More announcements will come as time passes.

And We’re Back!

Well, the B Network has been a mess over the past few months.  Updates have vanished, and we just about disappeared.  The source of the mess: I, A.B.B. went on an unannounced hiatus.  Sam Bulzon was left in charge of the B Network, and during that time, Alex Jones worked on BGC and other various site things.  Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.  But now, it’s time for things to get back to normal.  There’s plenty of news already.  First, Tortie Games and B Productions have merged into a new entity called Tortoise Media, which will be headed by returning B Staff member Sam Albertson.  Jordan Youls and Ricau Johnson have stepped down from their posts at B Productions and Tortie Games and taken part-time roles in the B Network as a result of this.  In other news, B Arcade has announced that they will now support GameJolt games and they will soon be adding GameJolt games to the website.  This comes shortly after Sam Bulzon’s unannounced takeover of the site from Alex Jones.  Sam will now be managing day-to-day operations of B Arcade.  Finally, BGC is almost done!  It’s been a huge work in progress, and it’s evolved many times.  More news on BGC will come very soon!

To close this post, I’d like to mention that a lot of changes have come to YYG.  Some are good, but they have taken a few things in the wrong direction.  But to say that we haven’t made mistakes as well would be an outright lie.  In 2011, big changes will come to the B Network.  This year, we’ve started on a good note, and we want to continue that way.  In February and beyond, we will continue to be a premier Game Maker website, but we’ll also look at things from a different angle.  My experience in these past few months with Java has been quite interesting.  I hope that I can return to the B Network with some new ideas for expanding our audience.  Already, we’re opening up B Arcade to other languages.  Who says BGC won’t be next?

GM4Mac Complete

Yoyo Games has released GM4Mac, and they are selling it on their newly launched appstore.  This is good news; it means that more commercial games are soon to come, possibly indicating that Sandy has secured deals with various people regarding the sale of their games exclusively on their appstore.  Another thing of note is the name of the appstore, which suggests that YYG may soon get into porting GM games to the iPhone and iPad.  It may not seem like huge news, but the fact the GM Games can now run on Macs most certainly suggests that Game Maker games will soon be on your iPhone.  And for GM Developers, that means that their games may one day be on the devices of millions of people across the world.

Bad News

I’ve received many emails asking me what happened to BGC.  Unfortunately, the development of BGC has ran into many problems, and we’ve decided to slow down development of BGC.  This is in part due to the lack of content to add to the website as well as the possibility that the current design will be scrapped entirely.  However, this does not mean that we’re giving up.  The project has simply gone through a change of priorities; we are now focusing on content rather than the site design.  In other news, we’ve reorganized the B Network Staff.  The list below should explain the changes.

B Network Staff

Head of the B Network – A.B.B.

Assistant Head of the B Network – Sam Bulzon

Site Management Team – Gregory Youls and Alex Jones

Content Development Team – Jordan Youls and Ricau Johnson

Website Assignments

B Arcade Manager – Gregory Youls

BGC Development Mangager – Jordan Youls

B Blog Team – Sam Bulzon and Alex Jones

BGC Topsites Maintenance – Ricau Johnson
